Purchase The Uncommon Chimpanzee
The Bonobo or 'Pygmy Chimpanzee' is a relatively unknown species in today's society. Although the public has been aware for many years that there is a species known as Pan troglodytes - or the chimpanzee - they have never heard of its cousin, Pan paniscus - the Bonobo. Although the Bonobo resembles a chimpanzee physically, its behaviours are markedly distinct. Many of these differences, such as their peaceful, egalitarian society and their intricate sexual and communication systems, strongly resemble human behaviour. These resemblances, in addition to morphological and genetic similarities, have allowed scientists to speculate that the Bonobo may be the closest living model of our early ancestors.
