UK writer/director/producer Simon
Rumley most recent film "The Living and The Dead", produced by Nick O'Hagan ("Pandaemonium" and "Young Adam") and Carl Schönfeld ("My Brother Tom") and starring British character actor Roger Lloyd premiered at the 2006, Rotterdam Film Festival and has won 5 Jury Awards at Fantastic Fest, Austin and Best Director and Best Film, also Special Jury Mention at Sitges.
Rumley's past films established him as one of the UK's premiere independent voices of London youth culture. His trilogy, which
includes "Strong
Language," "The
Truth Game," and "Club
Le Monde," has been received with both critical
and popular success in Britain, garnering prestigious nominations
such as Most
Promising Newcomer and Best
Achievement in Production by BIFA (British Independent
Film Awards).
Simon Rumley's film "The Handyman", starring Greta Saachi recently was "Best Short Film" at Sitges. It was the first script (written by Tom Beach) chosen to be produced by the British Short Screenplay Competition whose judges included: Michael Kuhn ("Being John Malkovich"), Steve Woolley ("Interview With a Vampire"), Nik Powell ("Crying Game") and Kenneth Branagh. The film stars British icon Greta Scacchi ("Presumed Innocent", "The Player") and King of New York Indie scene, Bill Sage (Hal Hartley's "The Girl From Monday", Greg Araki's "Mysterious Skin", "American Psycho") and will be premiered later this year.
Simon has recently optioned the controversial novel "Exquisite Corpse" by leading female horror writer, Poppy Z. Brite.
Simon
is also developing a pilot for the UK Film Council for his project "Anatomy of Grief" and has completed his horror spec script "Church of the Second Son".
