After successfully directing and producing 10 short films (two purchased by New Zealand Museum of Modern Art) plus commercials and documentaries in Alberta for the next 6 years, he then incorporated DB Entertainment (trade name) in 1989. Berquist focused DB Entertainment’s efforts toward the production of solo projects, other dramatic film productions and to facilitate foreign service production.
